The people behind Capital Growth

London Food LinkCapital Growth is coordinated by London Food Link, the large and rapidly growing network of people and organisations interested in healthy and sustainable food for the capital. Its members are as diverse as farmers and food writers, caterers and community food projects. Both London Food Link and its members work towards:

  • increasing the availability of sustainable food in London
  • tackling barriers preventing access to healthy and sustainable food for all Londoners
  • protecting and celebrating London's diverse food culture

Sustain: the alliance for better food and farming

London Food Link is part of Sustain: The alliance for better food and farming. Sustain and its members advocate food and agriculture policies and practices that enhance the health and welfare of people and animals, improve the working and living environment, enrich society and culture and promote equity.

Capital Growth is finded by the Big Lottery's Local Food Programme and the Mayor of London.

The campaign was supported in the pilot phase (to March 2009) by a grant from the London Development Agency. In September 2004 the Mayor of London established the London Food Board to lead on food matters in the capital. London Food represents the diversity of London's food system and helped develop and implement a London Food Strategy to improve the health of Londoners and make London's food sustainable over the ten years to 2016.
