Capital Growth

Grow to Sell

We are piloting Grow to Sell to encourage and support Capital Growth sites looking to sell their surplus produce to local restaurants and market stalls.

'It’s been fantastic and inspiring to work with such a knowledgeable and skilled team.  For such a small organisation such as ourselves to be looking at what was just an idea, to then be able to begin to put it in to practice is fantastic.'

Andrew Broughton, space no. 1345

What’s happened so far?

We have linked up many sites to different restaurants and market stalls so far and it’s been brilliant to see trading relations flourish!

St. Mungo’s growing space on Melior Street is now selling to The Table Café and have made over £1000 worth of sales over the past 3 months. Its not just about the money either, skill sharing is another exchange made as chefs help out on work days and growers add value to their fresh produce through making preserves in the restaurant kitchen.

London Fields Farmers Market, Budgens Crouch End, schools, Camden Loch, Camley Street Nature Reserve and various Capital Growth spaces have had stalls selling hyper-local produce grown on Capital Growth spaces.

For sites that don’t think they would be able to sell produce due to the small quantity grown we can help you combine with other Capital Growth spaces in order to hold a stall together.

Whether you need to raise the funds to buy some more seeds and tools, pay the public liability insurance or pay someone for their time on site, growing to sell can help you financially sustain your growing project.

How can we help?

We can provide support in a variety of ways.  This includes match-making a grower to a buyer, advice on pricing, adding value to produce, crop-planning, harvesting and generally helping projects to overcome any obstacles that prevent them from exploring growing produce to sell.

Please get in touch with Eloise@sustainweb.org or 020 7837 1228 to find out more.
