Introduction to Growing - 6 week course

Join us at the Community Growing Project for this six-week Introduction to Growing course. Suitable for those who are new to growing, as well as experienced growers who want to learn more. We’ll cover a wide range of topics over the 6 weeks, including soil health and composting, natural pest control, taking cuttings and an introduction to herbalism.
There will be plenty of opportunity for discussion, asking questions and practical learning. Tea and biscuits will be provided!

Our Certificate in Community Orcharding course combines high quality online learning with 7 action-packed, face-to-face training days. Running from September 2025 - June 2026 at various venues across London, you'll learn the skills necessary for effective orchard management, particularly of veteran trees.
This Level 3 course is accredited by Crossfields Institute and involves practical as well as written assessments.
Cost: £860 concessionary/£1210 general admission. Monthly payments availab

We have an exciting new gardening course at EcoLocal. Our RHS qualified and award-winning Horticultural tutor has developed a 10-week classroom-based evening course called ‘Gardening Fundamentals’ that takes you through the full range of gardening activities, from looking after and improving soil to pruning, propagation, design and keeping plants healthy. This new course will run on a Thursday evening between 7 and 9pm for 10 consecutive weeks between 4th September and 6th November 2025.

Composting is a fantastic way to turn your waste into beautiful, crumbly soil that can be used in your garden. Composting can go wrong though – is your compost heap soggy, smelly or simply not breaking down? Do you find that some of the information out there is confusing and contradictory? In this workshop, we will look at the basics of how to compost effectively at home. We’ll also cover the importance of soil health, and how we maintain this at the growing project.
