The Magic of Houseplants half-day workshop

Did you know you can improve your physical and mental health simply by growing houseplants? Over recent years interest in growing plants in our homes has increased and many people are now discovering the benefits and beauty of nurturing plants, even without any outdoor space at all. From cleaning and purifying the air, helping us breathe well, to relaxing and re-charging our minds from home-working stresses, houseplants are magical!

10-week Gardening Fundamentals evening course with EcoLocal

We have an exciting new gardening course at EcoLocal. Our RHS qualified and award-winning Horticultural tutor has developed a 10-week classroom-based evening course called ‘Gardening Fundamentals’ that takes you through the full range of gardening activities, from looking after and improving soil to pruning, propagation, design and keeping plants healthy. This new course will run on a Thursday evening between 7 and 9pm for 10 consecutive weeks between 22nd January and 26th March 2026.

Winter pruning of fruit trees

Free standing apple and pear trees should be pruned in winter when they are dormant, to keep them productive and control their size. If you are new to pruning, or not feeling very confident, join us on this popular, hands-on winter pruning workshop to find out how to successfully prune your trees. – Prune spur and tip bearing apples and pears – Regenerate old trees – Improve tree health – Encourage fruiting – Use and maintain pruning tools
