The annual London Permaculture Festival is a one day grassroots event that attracts around 700 people who come to learn about how the ethical design science of permaculture can offer sustainable, regenerative green solutions to different areas of modern life. Each year we host about 20 workshops, delivered by experts in their field. These broadly cover, as illustrated by his Permaculture Design System Flower, what permaculture co-originator David Holmgren has identified as, ‘the key domains that require transformation to create a sustainable culture.’

After 2 years hiatus due to Covid, the festival is back for 2022. Come along from 11am-6pm on Sunday 24 July for workshops (intro and advanced), ‘how-to’ sessions, a stalls market and a ‘families at the festival’ zone. Enjoy discussions, networking and learning about creative solutions for a sustainable, healthy future.

All workshop tickets cost £10/£5 concessions • Under 18s go free • All workshop info here

At this workshop learn about the permaculture design principles Permablitz London has adopted to help people grow food where they live and build healthy communities in the process. Since 2013 we have developed a flourishing mutual-support network through which people of all levels of experience collaborate to design and instal edible, wildlife-friendly permaculture systems across London through permablitzes. It will take place at 3.30pm at the Trefusis part of the Festival within Cecil Sharpe House.

Permablitzes are free days open to all which teach permaculture design in action through implementing a design for each garden. Once you have helped at several permablitzes (usually three) you can have one for your own private or community space. Since we started we have done 100-plus permablitzes involving over 1,000 people of all ages and cultures. We have established 6 outdoor classroom gardens and are developing a 7th at Kentish Town City Farm.
