This is an Entry Level unit in AQA's Unit Award Scheme and successful participants will be awarded a certificate, formally recognised when applying for jobs, apprenticeships and further training. Everyone is welcome, and priority will be given to Somers Town residents aged 16-25 years old and not in employment, education or training

Buddy Volunteer training

Becoming a buddy is an opportunity to gain skills and hands-on experience in support work and social and therapeutic gardening. The Buddy training is a free two day training combined with some online learning. Please apply by the 13th April. Our ecotherapy program supports people with mental health recovery needs such as depression, anxiety and isolation. Buddies help to create a friendly and welcoming environment, enabling everyone to participate fully.

Caring for Seedlings and Transplanting

You are invited to join our free monthly training sessions to learn about food growing in harmony with nature. At this month's session, we will look at how to raise strong seedlings, and how to know when they are ready to transplant into outdoor beds and containers. You will learn practical techniques for moving seedlings, as well as considering suitable growing conditions and ways to protect fragile young plants.

This seven month accredited online course featuring the videos of forest gardening expert Martin Crawford, provides the skills needed to design, create and manage a forest garden. We have some great guest speakers at our online tutorials including Pippa Chapman, Alan Carter & Rootsman Rakesh who’ll be sharing their experience of forest gardening in the UK, plus Orchard Project colleagues Lewis McNeill, Jo Homan and Witchhazel Wildwood will also be teaching about Soil, Survey and Design.
