Urban Harvest
Urban Harvest was a London-wide celebration of the harvest where every September Capital Growth members would bring their communities together to harvest, cook and share food.

Throughout the years, from 2021-2024, Capital Growth have run Urban Harvest Week, one of our two big annual festivals. The programme of events has traditionally run during September with a joyous celebration of the season’s bounty. With growers coming together through events like seed swaps, community meals, apple pressing and weighing produce.
We've thoroughly enjoyed seeing gardens across the network to welcome new visitors and showcase the benefits of community food growing, from health and wellbeing to creating more community and climate resilience. Over the course of the years, 56 growing sites have hosted 112 fantastic events; we thank everyone for making the festivals so special.
Whilst Urban Harvest isn’t set to run again in the near future, we encourage community growing sites to still mark the occasion and take a moment to celebrate your achievements together. Whether that’s through a community meal, open day or harvest fair, with the essential “guess the weight of the gourde” competition, the autumn season provides the opportunity to help build and strengthen your fellowship of growers and wider community. In a world of increasing uncertainty and the challenges that droughts and extreme weather bring, coming together to celebrate is vital to strenghten relationships and fortify hope. Never forget how important we are and the impact we can make in our local areas.
